UNIFY AND HP ENHANCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO FOCUS ON INTERNET-BASED SOLUTIONS

Long-standing relationship enhanced to address high-end, scalable, enterprise client/server applications for the Web

SAN JOSE, Calif., -- October 8, 1996 -- Unify Corporation (NASDAQ: UNFY), a leading provider of client/server software solutions for the development, deployment, and management of high-end, business critical applications for intranets and the Internet, today announced that Unify and Hewlett-Packard will increase their marketing activities through joint marketing programs and seminars focused at Fortune 1000 companies. Under the terms of the HP channel partner program, Unify will expand its participation in HPs Open Enterprise Computing Program and establish a technology sharing forum designed to enhance security and user access to the Internet.

In July, Unify announced version 3.0 of its flagship product Unify VISION™ and a companion product Unify VISION/Web™. VISION and VISION/Web generate Java™ code, without the need for Java programming, and enable developers to build high-end transactional applications that run on both Web and non-Web clients and servers.
